  • Dicksonia antarctica tree fern
    Out of Stock
NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE ONLINE. Available in a range of sizes, from 1ft of trunk right up to 8ft of trunk, and priced per foot - £45 per foot for trunks up to 5ft tall and £50 per foot for trunks 6ft tall and above. Don’t forget the measurement also includes the ‘hidden’ trunk within the pot/beneath the ground so a 4ft trunk tree fern won’t be 4ft of ‘visible trunk’ – but nearer 3ft of visible trunk. Do take this into consideration when thinking about the size that would best suit you and your garden – and the fact that they are slow growing, so will take a great deal of time to reach a ‘desired height’ if you purchase one a way off that height. PLEASE NOTE: Up to 5ft trunks: Are sent on a pallet with fronds intact. These trunks, plus fronds, should arrive in good condition. 6ft trunks: Can be sent with fronds but we cannot guarantee that the fronds will arrive intact. We always do our best to protect them when packing on to the pallet, but transit can sometimes disturb/damage the fronds.  7 - 8ft trunks: Due to height restrictions, these trunks will normally be removed from the pot and fixed to the pallet. They will arrive without fronds due to difficulties keeping them intact during transit. They will usually fall into the category of an 'oversize item', which means carriage will be more expensive - usually the cost of two pallets, and therefore double the carriage charge of trunks up to 6ft in height. Please contact us for specific details.

Receive a selection of Echeverias in this special succulent top pick! Varieties will be chosen at random and will vary depending on availability but we'll aim to provide you with a mixed selection. Echeverias are succulent, evergreens from South America, with attractive rosette forming foliage. Ideal in a warm position, they grow well in troughs, pots and containers inside or outside on a sunny patio - just be sure to protect from the cold/frosts when combined with 'wet weather' as these plants thrive in drought-like conditions once established, originating from hot, sunny climes!

    Pseudosasa japonica

    £29.95£45.00
NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE ONLINE. This tough, hardy, evergreen Bamboo is one of the best varieties for hedging and screening, as it forms the thickest of olive green canes, 4-6m/13-20ft tall – so great for traffic noise reduction and also one of the best-selling plants for screening noisy neighbours! It is also one of the only bamboos suitable for coastal and windy areas because it holds onto its large jungly looking leaves. It is very fast growing, with new shoots emerging from the base each summer, and superseding the previous year’s growth by around 1-1.5m/3.3-4.9ft. It spreads to form a clump, and can be pruned by either slicing off wayward shoots annually with a spade, or growing it alongside a lawn to stop it spreading. Alternatively, use a bamboo barrier when planting - as bamboos are shallow rooting this is fairly easy.
A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Pseudosasa japonica hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).

Cyathea australis - A large, evergreen fern with a rough, thick trunk. It grows up to 4 metres high pretty quickly with a spread of 6-8 metres and each frond can reach up to 4 metres long in good conditions! The Cyathea tolerates the sun as long as the soil is moist, but does need a good sheltered site to thrive. Some sources suggest it’s hardier than a Dicksonia Antarctica. It will be hardy to minus 8 degrees centigrade, but be aware that the fronds will get frosted in severe winters, so give the plant protection. Probably the best tree fern for a sunny site with its large evergreen fern and hairy trunk. Plant in a sheltered area or with light shade and add peat when planting or inside in a conservatory.
