  • Ilex crenata Green Hedge hedging plant

    Ilex crenata

    £7.95£25.00
Ilex crenata is the perfect alternative to Buxus (Box hedging) - looking almost identical to the old favourite, but without falling victim to disease problems such as box blight. Its common name is Japanese Holly, but it doesn't have prickly leaves, it has small dark green (probably slightly darker than Buxus) leaves that help form a neat dense hedge. Another advantage over Buxus is its more robust nature - and ability to grow beyond the common low Box hedge if desired - up to around 1.5m, due to its slightly more vigorous growth habit. A great evergreen option - and also perfect for topiary. Plant in a well drained soil in a sun/part shade position. A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Ilex crenata hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).

  • Elaeagnus-Compacta-9cm
9cm Elaeagnus x ebbingei Compacta plants. A very economical way to get a fast growing hedge on the go. They may be small now but these 9cm Elaeagnus x ebbingei Compacta plants will soon be romping away, bushing out, and forming a decent hedge that’s made to last. The ideal option if you don’t need that ‘instant hedge’ right away. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION: We don’t believe the height of our hedging plants to be of huge importance when we make them available for sale. In fact we trim all of our hedging plants several times a year to promote a bushy plant, that will be ready to form a decent hedge right away. Height isn’t everything – while a 2 litre plant could easily be 1m tall without trimming, this ‘leggy’ specimen wouldn’t be the kind of plant that you want for a hedge. A trimmed one with multiple shoots, will establish as a hedge much more quickly, and we therefore believe shape and bushiness to be real signs of quality, rather than current plant height. A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of 9cm Elaeagnus x ebbingei Compacta hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).
