  • Griselinia littoralis -5L

    Griselinia littoralis

    £7.95£65.00
Only 20L size available for sale online - we may have other sizes available on the garden centre, but not in big enough numbers to make available for sale online. Please see the alternative, Griselinia Green Horizon for more size options. As a guide: 2 litre: currently 50-60cm high 5 litre: currently 80-90cm high 10 litre: currently 80cm -110cm high 20 litre: currently 110cm-120cm high IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION: A quick grower, we don't find height of Griselinia is really such an important factor when considering the quality of the plant. We trim all of our hedging plants several times a year to promote a bushy plant, that will be ready to form a decent hedge right away. Height isn't everything - while a 2 litre plant could easily be 1m tall without trimming, this 'leggy' specimen wouldn't be the kind of plant that you want for a hedge. A trimmed one with multiple shoots, will establish as a hedge much more quickly.
A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Griselinia hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).

  • Sea of Griselinia Green Jewel5L-Griselinia-Green-Jewel

    Griselinia Green Jewel

    £10.95£35.00
5L pots available online. A more subtle variation in colour than Griselinia Variegata, Griselinia Green Jewel displays bright, glossy green leaves, splashed cream margins, and grey undertones across the leaf. The leaves tend to be slightly more pointed than the rounder leaf of Variegata too. Like the other Griselinia varieties, it tolerates a coastal position and salt laden winds very well, however it prefers more enclosed/sheltered estuaries. Very exposed locations would be better suited to the tougher Elaeagnus or Olearia hedging types. Plants on average supplied at 60-90cm high, but this can vary. A quick grower, we don't find height of griselinia is really such an important factor when considering the quality of the plant. A decent pot size provides a good indication of plant robustness and bushiness, and in fact we will cut our nursery plants down to encourage bushier growth (rather than a 'leggy' plant). if we feel it necessary. A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Griselinia Green Jewel hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).

  • Psudosasa-japonica 15L
Available in a 15 litre pot. This tough, hardy, evergreen Bamboo is one of the best varieties for hedging and screening, as it forms the thickest of olive green canes, 4-6m/13-20ft tall – so great for traffic noise reduction and also one of the best-selling plants for screening noisy neighbours! It is also one of the only bamboos suitable for coastal and windy areas because it holds onto its large jungly looking leaves. It is very fast growing, with new shoots emerging from the base each summer, and superseding the previous year’s growth by around 1-1.5m/3.3-4.9ft. It spreads to form a clump, and can be pruned by either slicing off wayward shoots annually with a spade, or growing it alongside a lawn to stop it spreading. Alternatively, use a bamboo barrier when planting - as bamboos are shallow rooting this is fairly easy.
A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Pseudosasa japonica hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).
  • Dicksonia antarctica tree fern trunksDicksonia antarctica tree fern
Bare root Dicksonia antarctica tree fern trunks - sent as bare trunks, not in a pot. Available in a range of sizes, from 1ft of trunk up to 6ft of trunk.  (For 1ft and 2ft trunks, please click here). Please contact us re. delivery costs if planning to purchase small trunks and large trunks as part of the same order. We will always try to give you the best price for delivery. Don’t forget the measurement also includes the trunk that will be ‘hidden’ within the pot/beneath the ground when planted out, so a 4ft trunk tree fern won’t be 4ft of ‘visible trunk’ – but nearer 3ft of visible trunk. Do take this into consideration when thinking about the size that would best suit you and your garden – and the fact that they are slow growing, so will take a great deal of time to reach a ‘desired height’ if you purchase one a way off that height. PLEASE NOTE: Up to 5ft trunks: Are sent on a pallet with fronds intact. These trunks, plus fronds, should arrive in good condition. 5-6ft trunks: Fronds may be removed before sending, to avoid damage being caused in transit. We can send with fronds on request, but we cannot guarantee that the fronds will arrive intact, despite doing our best to protect them when packing on to the pallet.
