Echium pininana – this exotic, evergreen plant originates in the Canary Islands and has an unusual appearance with huge hairy, silver leaves. To thrive it needs full sun and well-drained soil and although it can withstand temperatures as low as minus 5 degrees centigrade, it should be protected from hard frost. It can cause skin irritation. Pictures are for guidance only. Plants available in a one litre pot are significantly smaller than those in a four litre pot. • Griselinia hedge at Trevena Crossgriselinia-littoralis-product

    Griselinia littoralis

    £6.95£25.00
2 LITRE, 5 LITRE AND 10 LITRE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE ONLINE.

    As a guide:
    5 litre: up to 1m high 10 litre: 120cm - 140cm
20 litre: in excess of 160cm - please call 01736 763880 or email to enquire.

Griselinia littoralis is a fast growing evergreen hedging plant with apple green leaves, hardy to at least -10°C. It will withstand salt laden winds on the seafront in sheltered or enclosed estuaries like St. Mawes and Falmouth in Cornwall, but in exposed positions will need to be positioned several hundred feet from the sea.
For extremely exposed coastal sites like Land’s End, and Lizard Point in Cornwall, we would recommend the tougher Olearia traversii or Olearia virgata Laxifolia over Griselinia littoralis, although Griselinia is a super choice for most locations.
A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Griselinia hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants). Olearia traversii Compacta

    £6.95£9.95
Currently only available in a 2 litre pot. Olearia traversii Compacta is a useful, compact form of this popular hedging plant. Retaining all of the benefits of the original Olearia traversii  - a tough, quick growing, upright evergreen shrub, and ideal as a hedging plant when used in multiples. It displays glossy green leaves, which are silvery-white on the undersides, creating a lovely two-tone effect. Inconspicuous daisy-like flowers bloom on panicles in early summer. It particularly makes a great coastal hedge, due to its tolerance of salt winds and dry, sandy soils. A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Olearia traversii Compacta hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).

Similar to the standard Griselinia, but with darker green, glossy leaves, Griselinia Green Horizon is a fast growing evergreen hedging plant, hardy to at least -10°C to -12°C. It will withstand a coastal position and salt laden winds well but as with the standard and other variations of Griselinia, prefers a more sheltered estuary or inlet like St Mawes or Falmouth in Cornwall. In more exposed locations, Griselinia Green Horizon will need to be positioned several hundred feet from the sea, and for extremely exposed coastal sites like Land’s End, and Lizard Point in Cornwall, we would recommend the tougher Olearia hedging types.

  • elaeagnus x ebbingei compacta
Available in a 2 litre pot. Elaeagnus ebbingei Compacta forms a neater, more compact hedge than its very close relative Elaeagnus ebbingei, and is ideal for hedges up to 2m/6ft. It grows around 45 cm/18inches a year, looks great on Cornish walls and is good for smaller gardens. Besides forming a more compact hedge, many of its other characteristics, including its nitrogen fixing capabilities, are in line with its relative Elaeagnus x ebbingei. It is an evergreen, hardy, salt-wind tolerant hedging plant that will grow very close to the sea. It will grow well in any well drained soil, even poor, dry soils, as it is particularly drought tolerant, and can be positioned in anything from full sun to heavy shade. A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Elaeagnus x ebbingei Compacta hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).
  • Miracle Gro All Purpose Continuous Realease Plant Food
Miracle-Gro All Purpose Continuous Release Plant Food feeds plants for up to six months with just a single application. A clever temperature-controlled coating means its 10 essential nutrients are only released into the soil/compost, and will only be to the plant's benefit when the conditions are right. The fertiliser won't leach with heavy rainfall or be 'feeding' when the plant doesn't require it/out of growing season.  This 'slow release' fertiliser removes the need for regular feeding, and yet contains all of the essential nutrients necessary to produce a strong healthy plant.
  • Ilex crenata Green Hedge hedging plant

    Ilex crenata Green Hedge

    £7.95£25.00
Ilex crenata Green Hedge is the perfect alternative to Buxus (Box hedging) - looking almost identical to the old favourite, but without falling victim to disease problems such as box blight. Its common name is Japanese Holly, but it doesn't have prickly leaves, it has small dark green (probably slightly darker than Buxus) leaves that help form a neat dense hedge. Another advantage over Buxus is its more robust nature - and ability to grow beyond the common low Box hedge if desired - up to around 1.5m, due to its slightly more vigorous growth habit. A great evergreen option - and also perfect for topiary. Plant in a well drained soil in a sun/part shade position. A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Ilex crenata Green Hedge hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).
  • Euonymus Microphyllus foliage close upEuonymus Microphyllus plants

    Euonymus japonicus Microphyllus

    £8.50£24.95
Available in a 3 litre or a 10 litre pot. Euonymus japonicus Microphyllus is an evergreen, densely bushy, rounded shrub with dark green leaves. A great alternative to Buxus (prone to box blight and other pests and diseases), it can provide a great low screen or box hedge when plants are positioned next to each other. Low maintenance, with a compact growth habit, this variety will reach only a maximum of 1m/3.3ft tall and wide eventually, spreading right to ground level. It is well suited to trimming to a desirable shape, making maintenance very easy indeed. Variegated gold leaf highlights and small greenish-white flowers in early summer offer added interest. Hardier than some Euonymus varieties it is an excellent option for hedging, or in and around borders. A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Euonymus japonicus Microphyllus hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants). Or check out our 75 plant UK wide Pallet Deal on 3 litre Euonymus japonicus Microphyllus.
  • Corokia Geenty's Ghost foliageCorokia Geenty's Ghost hedging plant
Available in a 4 litre pot. Corokia x virgata Geenty's Ghost is a tough evergreen shrub from New Zealand with silvery grey foliage and small yellow flowers in the spring, which are followed by red-orange berries. It is a great one for coastal planting, withstanding salt-laden winds well, and also makes a cracking hedge in locations prone to wind. Its compact habit means it can be trimmed to a neat  shape, naturally only reaching around 1-2m high and around 1m wide - therefore also making it a great pick for smaller gardens. It thrives in a well drained soil in a sunny, or partially shady position. Feeding with a decent fertiliser during the growing season will encourage the nice dense growth required of the 'perfect hedge'! A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Corokia Geentys Ghost hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).

Available in a 5 litre pot. A variety of Cherry Laurel, Prunus laurocerasus Genolia is a Swiss evergreen shrub, ideal for mass planting as hedging or screening due to its dense, erect, columnar growing habit. In autumn, some glossy black (inedible) fruits and (poisonous if eaten) seed capsules follow. It’s compact growth forms a narrow hedge, perfect for the smaller garden or where space is an issue. Trimming and pruning requirements are also reduced as a result. A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Prunus laurocerasus Genolia hedging plants. Like the standard Griselinia, it will withstand salt laden winds but will only tolerate a seafront position if located in a sheltered estuary or inlet, like St Mawes or Falmouth in Cornwall. In exposed locations, Griselinia would need to be positioned several hundred feet away from the sea or for extremely exposed coastal sites like Land’s End, and Lizard Point in Cornwall, we would recommend an alternative like the tougher Elaeagnus or Olearia traversii. Perfect for difficult growing conditions, the Fatsia look spectacular indoors as well as outside where the leaves darken and weather to a thicker texture. It grows well in heavy soil, copes with little to no direct sunlight and is fine in a darker corner of any garden. It can also be grown in a large container with a loam-based compost and appreciates a regular supply of water. If you have a stone or brick wall in a garden, consider situating a Fatsia nearby as it's striking appearance will grab your attention or using as a backdrop to other exotic plants.
