Ilex crenata is the perfect alternative to Buxus (Box hedging) – looking almost identical to the old favourite, but without falling victim to disease problems such as box blight. Its common name is Japanese Holly, but it doesn’t have prickly leaves, it has small dark green (probably slightly darker than Buxus) leaves that help form a neat dense hedge. Another advantage over Buxus is its more robust nature – and ability to grow beyond the common low Box hedge if desired – up to around 1.5m, due to its slightly more vigorous growth habit. A great evergreen option – and also perfect for topiary. Plant in a well drained soil in a sun/part shade position.

A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Ilex crenata hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).
