  • Lonicera-Scoop-foliageLonicera-Scoop
    Out of Stock
Available in a 2 litre pot, currently around 30-40cm high. Ideal height: 40-100cm/1.5-3ft Growth rate: 20-40cm/8inches-1ft a year Position & planting: plant 30cm/1ft apart; fertile, well drained soil in full sun-part shade Perfect for… neat, small box type hedge or for topiary This 'box honeysuckle' is possibly the best box substitute, compact growing with evergreen tiny dark green, glossy leaves, perfect for a uniform, low hedge (up to 1m tall), or for topiary. Once established it will display tiny white, mildly scented flowers in spring followed by small purple-black fruit later in the year. It should be grown in sun to partial shade in a well drained soil and is hardy to -12 degrees C. It doesn't like very wet soil. Great for topiary because it grows in a naturally neat, rounded shape that is easy to prune. Pruning encourages it to grow more densely, and it is actually quite a quick grower in a lighter soil, perfect if you're after a quick low border or hedge. It can also sit nicely in a large pot if you want a focal point as a specimen plant pruned to your desired shape. A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Lonicera Scoop hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).

OUT OF STOCK ONLINE. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION: We don’t believe the height of our hedging plants to be of huge importance when we make them available for sale. In fact we trim all of our hedging plants several times a year to promote a bushy plant, that will be ready to form a decent hedge right away. Height isn’t everything – while a 2 litre plant could easily be 1m tall without trimming, this ‘leggy’ specimen wouldn’t be the kind of plant that you want for a hedge. A trimmed one with multiple shoots, will establish as a hedge much more quickly, and we therefore believe shape and bushiness to be real signs of quality, rather than current plant height.
A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Olearia traversii Compacta hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).

  • Psudosasa-japonica 15L
Available in a 15 litre pot. This tough, hardy, evergreen Bamboo is one of the best varieties for hedging and screening, as it forms the thickest of olive green canes, 4-6m/13-20ft tall – so great for traffic noise reduction and also one of the best-selling plants for screening noisy neighbours! It is also one of the only bamboos suitable for coastal and windy areas because it holds onto its large jungly looking leaves. It is very fast growing, with new shoots emerging from the base each summer, and superseding the previous year’s growth by around 1-1.5m/3.3-4.9ft. It spreads to form a clump, and can be pruned by either slicing off wayward shoots annually with a spade, or growing it alongside a lawn to stop it spreading. Alternatively, use a bamboo barrier when planting - as bamboos are shallow rooting this is fairly easy.
A per plant discount is available for bulk purchases of Pseudosasa japonica hedging plants. This discount will be applied in your basket if applicable (begins at 10+ plants).

It’s hardy to -8 degrees centigrade. Pictures are for guidance only. Our online shopping Terms & Conditions (postage and returns) can be viewed here: /online-shopping-terms-conditions/
