WHAT'S NEW

February 2010
News for February
11 February 2010. I have been working here at the garden centre for 12 years now and normally I spend the winter months working either on maintenance around the garden centre or on office work such as trying to keep on top of the website and creating sales material for the coming season. This winter has been very different for me as we have been short staffed on our nursery so I have been helping out at the cutting edge of production. This has unfortunately left the website a little bit more out of date but has had other benefits. It has been really interesting to see the vast amount of fantastic stock we have in the pipeline. Agreed some days have been a bit challenging - potting up thousands of our ever popular Griselinia hedging plants but on the other hand some days are really great - yesterday we were potting on the Cordyline indivisa and the Myosotidium hortensia - the Chatham Island forget me not - which bears beautiful blue flowers. These two plants will not be ready for a couple of months yet but we have huge stocks of many many other plants so as always whether you are shopping with us online or at the garden centre we look forward to helping you with your requirements. All for now, John.

September 2009
News for September
2 September 2009. Cornwall is renowned for the use of the word Dreckly - as in when asked to do something to say ''I will do it dreckly'' - in other words later. Some say it seems more applicable to certain building trades more than others but I won''t get involved here in that debate. Suffice to say that now is as good a time as any to pay us a visit and not to do it dreckly. We have a huge range of fresh plants down from our nursery over the last few weeks and on the whole the garden centre is looking good. The Garden Kitchen restuarant continues to provide some great food with both home grown and localy sourced produce. Whilst visiting take time to browse our great gift area with a huge range of high quality gifts and present ideas. Who knows you may even be interested in one of the Dreckly clocks that we are stocking!

July 2009
News for July
15 July 2009. Now back from Hampton Court flower show where as usual our stand created a lot of interest and it was nice to meet up with customers old and new. It is also great to see customers from Cornwall there. Comments like ''We were at your garden centre last Saturday'', were not infrequent. We had a superb display designed by Graham and Nick. One of the plants that caught the eye of many customers was the Verbena rigida. A smaller form of the more common Verbena bonariensis. We are trying to get the message across that although we do a large range of exotic plants, first and foremost we are a normal garden centre so can cater for most peoples needs. Do pop in and see us if you are in the area.
