 Pseudopanax ferox (Savage Lancewood)
A stunning hardy evergreen architectural plant from New Zealand with tough coarsely serrated leaves with a mottled brown colouring on a single stem for many years before branching. Leaves can reach 40 –50cms long in a sunny or partially shaded site in a well-drained soil. Height up to 3-4m with a spread of 50-60cms.

 Pseudopanax Gold Splash
An extraordinary shrub from New Zealand. Grows for many years on a single stem to 3-4m (12ft) before branching with an eventual height in the region of 4-5m (15ft) Long thin leathery leaves hang at odd angles from the stem. Best grown as a focal plant or against a wall to give a silhouette effect. Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile well drained soil. An excellent plant for an architectural effect in the exotic garden.

 Pseudopanax laetus
A New Zealand shrub with leaves that are large dark green, oval, leathery and serrated near the tips. Leaf margins and stems have a reddish tinge. Forms a spreading rounded shrub up to 3m tall and wide. Plant in rich fertile moisture retentive but well drained soil and much with bark or similar and protect from hard frost when young. Established plants will survive to minus 5 degrees C. Also makes an excellent container plant for a sunny or semi shaded site.

 Pseudopanax lessonii Purpureus
An exciting evergreen wind hardy shrub from New Zealand, which is rather rare in this country yet, is easy to grow in fertile well-drained soil. Amazing glossy, purple, leathery leaves. Best in full sun. Ideal in the southwest. Makes a small multi-stemmed shrub to 2.4m high. A great plant for creating a stunning effect when planted with lighter coloured plants or those with variegated foliage. In our experience this has proved hardy to minus 5 degrees C.

 Pseudopanax lessonii Sabre
An evergreen shrub from New Zealand grown for it’s exotic looking narrow foliage up to 30cms long that is a glossy deep purplish green colour with a striking orange midrib. A very tough and wind hardy plant that has stood all but the most severe winters, seeming to be hardy down to about minus 7 degrees. Plant in well-drained soil or in tubs or pots in full sun. Height up to 3m and 1.5m wide but can be pruned to size.

 Pseudopanax linearifolius
Evergreen salt-wind-resistant shrub with interesting foliage. A graceful fine leaved shrub. Leaves are five lobed and leathery. Height to 2m with a spread of 1-1.5m. Plant in any well-drained soil in sun or will grow in deep shade. Therefore it can be used as a houseplant in shady spots. Can be grown in a pot. Hardy to minus 10 degrees C.

A beautiful evergreen foliage shrub from NZ that forms a compact 2m x 2m bush of shiny purple bronze foliage. Grow in fertile well drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Hardy to minus 6°C when established.

 Pseudowintera colorata
A spreading bushy shrub with leathery, yellow-green leaves marked pink and margined dark purple-red. Cup-shaped yellowish green flowers in mid-spring followed by red berries maturing black. Max Height 1m. Max Spread 1.5m. Flowers March to April. Fruits May. Full sun/partial shade. Frost hardy. Back-fill with soil mixed with peat substitute and a suitable fertiliser.

 Psoralea pinnnata 'Blue Pea' (Not currently in stock)
A most unusual evergreen broom from South Africa with compound aromatic foliage and pea like blue flowers throughout spring and summer. Height 2-4m with a spread of 1-2m. Plant in moist but well drained soil in full sun. Water well in the summer or mulch with bark. Classed as a Zone 8 plant it has survived minus 6 degrees with us. Soft new growth can be cut back by frost.

 Quercus ilex (Holly Oak - Holm Oak)
Hardy evergreen tree with holly-like foliage and smooth grey bark. Bears acorns in autumn. Height and spread to 15m. Plant in deep fertile, well drained soil in sun or part-shade. Shelter from severe cold winds.

An unusual evergreen shrub from Chile with tiny light purple flowers in the spring. The plant has small dark green leaves and spines on the stems. Height 2-4m with a spread of 1.5 -2m. Plant in free draining soil in sun or light shade.

 Rubus Betty Ashburner
A prostrate shrub with arching stems and heart-shaped, glossy, mid-green leaves. Pretty saucer-shaped white flowers in summer. Height 30cm. Spread Indefinite. Flower colour White. Flowers from June to August. Evergreen. Foliage colour Green. Hardy. Planting instructions Back-fill with soil mixed with peat and a suitable fertiliser.

 Rubus pentalobus
A hardy evergreen ground cover plant from Taiwan with prickly shoots that root into ground as they grow and dark green, rounded, heart shaped leaves. White saucer shaped flowers in summer are followed by red fruit. Height only 10cms with an indefinite spread. Grow in full sun to semi shade making it an excellent choice for growing under trees and shrubs or for covering banks.

 Schefflera digitata
An exotic evergreen shrub from New Zealand with large deep green leaves composed of up to 9 oval leaflets from a single point up to 20cm long. In the summer large clusters of tiny greenish white flowers hang below the leaves. Height 3m with a spread of 2.5m. It will grow best when the roots are cool so mulch well. An excellent plant for creating an exotic look. Grow in rich fertile soil that is moist but well drained. Grow in full sun or partial shade. Hardy to minus 6 degrees when established.

An evergreen shrub or perennial herb from Mexico with large broad ovate soft hairy leaves and clusters of yellow flowers in spring. Height and spread 1.5-2m. Plant in well drained soil in full sun. Makes an excellent foliage plant for the lush sub tropical garden. Hardy to around -4°C so protect from hard frosts.

 Tarchonanthus camphoratus (Camphor Bush)
This tough growing South African shrub gets its name from the aromatic leaves, which are leathery and grey green. Terminal sprays of small creamy flowers in late spring and summer are followed by tiny fruits, which are covered in what looks like cotton wool giving a very decorative effect. Able to grow to 5m tall and 3-5m wide but can be kept smaller by pruning. Withstands salt winds and gales making it very useful as a hedge or large shrub. Has withstood minus 6 degrees with us when planted in free draining soil in an open sunny position.

A conical conifer becoming columnar with age. Pale narrow green leaves turn rust-brown in autumn. Produces cones. Height 20-40m. Spread 6-9m. Deciduous. Foliage colour Green. Hardy. Planting instructions Back-fill with soil mixed with peat and a suitable fertiliser.
