A semi-evergreen shrub (height and spread around 3m/9.8ft) with rounded leaves and striking tubular crimson to red flowers in early summer. It should be planted in a sheltered position in full sun in a fertile, well-drained soil. Although able to withstand a small amount of frost this is best grown as a conservatory plant or outside in very sheltered gardens.
