Weigela is a deciduous perennial shrub grown for its abundance of red, pink, lavender or white bell shaped flowers in late spring and early summer. Weigela, sometimes known as cardinal shrub or old-fashioned weigela, is a great foundation plant in landscaping, and is easy to grow and maintain.
Traditionally with 4-inch-long green leaves, newer cultivars were developed with different coloured, and variegated foliage, adding extra interest to the garden throughout the growing season.
