A handsome, slow growing deciduous (particularly in cold areas) fern, (max height 60cm/1.9ft, max spread 40cm/1.3ft) slowly creeping, forming triangular fronds which are copper-red when young, and slowly turn dark green with green midribs when mature. It prefers a sheltered, partially shady position, in a moisture retentive soil, and looks great amongst other fern and woodland plants, or in a pot on a shaded patio. Cutting back old, tired fronds in winter will encourage new growth.
