An exotic looking specimen bearing resemblance to a pineapple with its tough spiky foliage. Green leaves, with brown-red undersides, becoming brighter coloured at the base, and turning to a brilliant scarlet late summer as it prepares to flower with blue-grey flowers – often a breath-taking sight! Will grow well in most soil types including well-drained, light sandy conditions, in sun or shade, but should be protected from frost.
