A hardy deciduous shrub (height and spread around 2m/6.5ft) with unusual bark and good autumn foliage colour – turning from a dark green to a brilliant red during this season. It produces almost round, red-purple fruit, opening to orange seeds after flowering. It should be positioned in a sunny or partially shady position in any well- drained soil, and should be sheltered from drying winds. Caution - harmful if eaten.
