Tilnar Art Sculptures

Beautiful, hand crafted, Fair Trade sculptures from Zimbabwe - original, unique and certainly not found on your average high-street!

Tilnar Art’s wood, tin and stone carvings are purchased direct from artists in Zimbabwe. They source their products through a small family run supplier in Harare who have been working with and supporting a group of talented artists for over 10 years.

All products are Fair Trade, with the artists either working for themselves or working in co-operatives, so it can be ensured that it is the artists themselves that reap the rewards of their work directly - able to support their families from the the sales that they make.

Here at Trevena Cross we have a unique display of hand carved and hand painted wooden sculptures, most notably giraffes and zebras, as well as a selection of beautiful recycled metal animal sculptures.

The one-of-a-kind works of art are made with great care and attention to detail - quality is certainly paramount. As each sculpture is individually made, each will be unique with its own markings and poses. The metal sculptures can also be displayed outdoors – just imagine the impact of one in your garden! If it is placed outside, a yearly coat of boat varnish is recommended to maintain the sculpture’s excellent condition.

We’re very excited about these truly unique, one-of-a-kind additions to the shop and invite you to stop and admire them on your next visit! See if you can resist taking one home with you!

Also in - the WWF Collection of unique, Fair Trade soapstone products, handcrafted in Kenya out of real natural stone!

Mined in Kisii, Kenya, the soapstone is naturally soft in nature, carved by craftspeople to produce different products without the help of any mechanical devices! After the stone is mined it is cut into manageable chunks before specific carving, rasping and incising begins. It is then rubbed down with water and hand painted in beautiful designs before wax polishing for a beautiful finish.
